Music Ministry Report

Music Ministry Report for January

January is a time of renewal and dedication for us and our ministry. It is renewal as we stay close to home and sing around the Amarillo area. Staying close to home allows us to worship at our home church and spend time with our kids and grand kids. As we start a new year we prayerfully seek God’s direction. God has called us to present the good news of His love anywhere He opens up doors.

This month we have been busy, singing 25 venues.  We also did a little instrument house cleaning. We sold our old PSR 3000 keyboard on EBAY.  We had kept it for a backup for the PSR-S910 but have never needed it. Since it belonged to our ministry, money from the sale was put back into the ministry.  Last month we sold an alto sax that was donated to our ministry several years ago. I hardly ever played it since the digital horn is so light weight, easy to set up, and takes a lot less air. January is the time when we pay our web site fee, domain names, replenish our CD stock and other expenses.

Year End 2011 Music Ministry Report

We have been blessed with a wonderful, fruitful, and eventful year in 2011. We are so grateful for your prayers for our ministry and want you to know that you are a vital part of our ministry.

In December we went caroling at Kendrick rehab for Alvin Hicks and the other rehab patients and did 9 other Christmas programs.  We traveled as far as Lubbock and Fort Stockton to present Christmas programs. We were home long enough to participate in the Christmas Cantata with the choir at Temple Baptist.  That left 8 other music venues in December to finish 2011.

This last year we had 288 music venues, we drove 14,392 miles, 26 saved, and 66 other decisions. We sang in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, and North Carolina. Last year we were able to do three revivals: one in Frio Texas, FBC Hardesty Oklahoma, and at Patterson Heights in Anderson Missouri. God has blessed us with many new friends and renew old acquaintances.

On our I40 east tour God gave us an affirmation for our ministry in a unique way. Our back window on the van was broken out and Sylvia’s purse stolen but the instruments and sound equipment were not touched. We were able to duct tape the back window and sing the rest of our tour. A church Tennessee paid our insurance deductable of $500. The Avery Baptist Association in Newland, NC, allowed us to stay in the missionary apartment during the time of our ministry in the area. Another blessing was in Kentucky.  We read about a MSC missionary couple, Robin and George Lewis, doing rescue mission work in Lynch, KY area, in Sylvia’s Mosaic magazine.  We spent one day with them singing at the rescue mission called Freedom Center Ministries and in the park.  We were blessed by the beauty of fall in the mountains of Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina. No picture can do justice but we have plenty to show you, just come by for a visit.

Our ministry is supported by love offerings and donations. Since Bob is retired from AT&T our pension supports our daily needs so all our donations are applied 100% into our ministry. Donations cover mileage, motel, CD expense, and equipment to do our ministry. When we travel we do not charge or ask for love offerings. God has always supplied our needs.  At year end our ministry was about $1,100 in the hole. We asked the Lord for direction: if we needed to slow down on our travels, seek a new direction, or just retire. Late in December we got a call from a man that said he wanted to donate $1,000 to our ministry. I was dumbfounded and hardly able to talk to thank him. That was the amount we needed to balance out our year. God was again affirming our ministry. We are seeking the Lord for where we need to go this next year.

The most important statistic of the year is the 26 people that were saved. God has used us to reach people and that is so humbling.  Often our ministry is not music but listening and praying with a pastor or a pastor’s wife or with the people we are staying with.  There are so many hurting people and people that just need a word of encouragement and love.

We are continuing to seeking God’s direction on getting and RV or 5th wheel and staying out on the road more.
